A tough performance of the vacancy of poormansphysician in 1860
In 1860 the Asperense physician Winkler departed to Strijen. Because he also was charged with the care for the poormanshealth, the filling in of his vacancy had to take into account the feelings of the consistory of NH church. The poormanshealth was in accordance with an agreement between the civil and NH churches a matter of the church, financially supported by the municipal council with the income from the Gasthuisfonds. The vacancy was not immediately fulfilled. Winkler had by January 1 of that year prompted resignation, but asked if the end of November 1859 permission to leave. When stated on November 12 the consistory no objection to having provided the medical care was on the spot.
On December 29, 1859, the issue again in the consistorymeeting at issue. They wondered what is actually covered. Winkler had already left and he with the Leerdamse doctor Schomper agreements expired by January 1, 1860. The consistory could not otherwise do so the city council to propose the agreement with Schomper no later than April 1 to be extended in the hope that the vacancy would be fulfilled. However, it would be otherwise.
Only on April 20, 1860, the consistory on the issue. She is now in possession of a number of cover letters come with a request for advice. After reading a number of letters are discarded as are not eligible. There remains a three letters, of Lemke medical doctor from Joure, Halfmann physician at St. Maartensdijk and Daams from New Loosdrecht. The general preference was given to a medical doctor. About Lemke had also sought information. Apparently that was in respect of the other two candidates already happened. Lemke, however, decided to withdraw and to the municipal council was advised Halffman to appoint.
On May 24, the city council this opinion and Halffman was appointed by July 1 against an jaarwedde of ƒ 250 - to be paid from the Gasthuisfonds. Halffman however Leerdam wished to live, because the only available housing in Asperen him unfit occurred. In addition to an increase in jaarwedde to ƒ 300, -, had also huishuur reimbursed. The consistory pointed out that it will live in Leerdam contrary to the agreements made, but was not opposed to compensation for the increase in huishuur or jaarwedde. This was the city council also considered.
This, however, decided July 14 different. Halffmans requests were not granted, but he had to be within eight days indicate whether he assumed his appointment. Halffman thanked eventually. The vervolgprocedure elected to the Idenburg accepted his appointment.
Now the entire correspondence and Halffman two letters no longer present. A letter from the consistory of Asperen that no other information indicates that the consistory acts and a letter from St. Maartensdijk and Mr. Wash. This wrote on May 19 to his fellow no other pages to be able to send than Mr Casembroot had done. Halffman since 4 years in St. Maartensdijk employed and known as a "decent and calm mensch 'with a life which nothing beyond what loffelijks was saying. It was not the doctor of Sas. This was simply because his uncle, a doctor already on age being on the spot much trust, although for years he and his family all the help offered. But, he wrote, he would trust with all the medical care to Halffman to trust. It was Sas in dealing with Halffman noticed that the box in his home had been remained difficult as it seemed to judge the skills and arts. It was a doctor who was very active and care for his patients. This was revealed in the year that he deacons arms treated. And deacons arms had St. Maartensdijk enough according to the pastor "and they are many in eene zoo volkrijke town and veelsoortigen nature." In short he hoped Halffman not left, but he could do all heartily recommend. As we have seen, came Halffman not Asperen.
